Harry felt like he was floating on a cloud, soft voices he couldn't make out drifting by him on the wind. Gentle hands tended to him and Harry couldn't help but lean into the fingers that brushed through his hair. A deep voice murmured quietly, but Harry couldn't understand anything but his name. Harry swallowed when he was told to and was glad when he warmed up. The tightness in his chest eased as did the pounding in his head and Harry sighed in relief.

Cacooned in warmth, Harry even imagined that it was arm the was wrapped around his waist, holding him. He smiled. It wasn't hard to fantasize that the arm was attached to a tall, lean body, and that dark hair fanned out on the pillow next to him. The same arms that would wrap around his waist and pull him under a floating sprig of mistletoe, where they would share their first kiss. A mere brushing of the lips that would ignite and Harry would feel the magic, the passion of being desired and loved. It would be the start of a life-long love affair.

Severus jerked awake, momentarily disoriented. He was lying on top of a four-poster, his arm slung around a man's waist, and he was rubbing his erection against the man's arse… Horrified, Severus eased himself away from Harry…from Potter and fled to the bathroom. He'd only meant to close his eyes for a moment when Potter's fever had broken and must have fallen asleep. How he'd come to embrace Har—Potter, not to mention frot against him, Severus had no idea.

Severus used the toilet, washed his hands methodically before splashing water on his face. He gripped the edge of the sink, staring into the surprisingly silent mirror. His reflection looked shaken as Severus tried to fathom just when he'd developed an attraction to Potter. He'd been so busy working to keep Harry at a distance that Severus had failed to realize that he'd fallen in love. With Harry Potter.

This item certainly hadn't been on his Christmas wish list, Severus thought, rubbing a damp hand over his face. A bottle of fine scotch or a new cloak perhaps, but not something that would have such an impact on his life. Severus straighten up, remembering Harry's response to his touch, the way he'd calmed when he's heard Severus' voice, and the way it had made Severus feel inside. And that was a priceless gift.

A now familiar whine drew him out of the bathroom and Severus moved through the bedroom. "All right, Duchess, I'll let you out."

"You know about Duchess?" The weak voice from the bed sounded incredulously.

Severus stopped in his tracks, his mind processing the information, before turning. "There is little that happens in the castle that the Headmaster isn't aware of." Schooling his face, Severus turned back to the bed. "Did you think I was so hard-hearted that I would not allow you to have her, Harry?"

Harry's face lit at his words and Severus' heart warmed at the sight. He immediately resolved to give a perfect Christmas and perhaps, a gift of himself.

LOL! Yay, indeed! :)
